Why are style icons always white?

So...I was checking out Little Snob Thing (which is a beautiful italian fashion blog) and there was a poll where people had to vote their favourite fashion icon.
Allora...Stavo dando un'occhiata a Little Snob Thing (che e' un bellissimo italian fashion blog) e c'era un sondaggio per votare la propria fashion icon preferita.

Now...I'm not obsessed with fashion (although I love it) so I'm not one that drools over the famous fashionistas of the world.
Ora...io non sono ossessionata dalla moda (anche se la amo) quindi non sono una che impazzisce per le fashionistas famore che circolano per il mondo.

But I was disappointed that the list chose on the blog included only white skinny girls in it. Well it's not really about the skinny. It's about the white.
Ma che nella lista del blog figurino solo delle magre ragazze bianche mi ha un po' deluso. La questione non riguarda il fatto che siano magre. E' che sono bianche.

Why is everybody still SO in love only with the white girls style?
Perche' sono ancora tutti cosi' innamorati dello stile delle ragazze bianche?

I mean... this is 2011 right? How can you not have at least one black girl on a fashion list?
Voglio dire... questo e' il 2011 giusto? Come puo'non esserci neanche una ragazza nera su una fashion list?

I don't mean this as an attack to the owner of Little Snob Thing, but being a huge lover of black culture, black music, black attitude, black skin, black style I thought it was a little sad.
Questo non e' un attacco nei confronti della proprietaria di Little Snob Thing, ma essendo una grande amante della cultura black, della musica black, della black attitude, della pelle black e dello style black, ho trovato la cosa un po' triste.

So...here are some Black Women that I think have nothing to envy to white women on the style area (or any other as far as I'm concerned)!
Quindi...ecco qui alcune Donne Nere che io penso non abbiano niente da invidiare alle donne bianche nell'area stile (o in nessun altra per quanto mi riguarda)!

Tyra Banks. From Top Model to one of the most influencial people in media of the USA (which is kinda like saying of the world) and nobody ever gives a crap about her. But I love u Tyra!!!


Queen Latifah. This woman is not only THE Queen. She's a multitalented and super-stylish goddess.


Zoe Seldana. THE Fashion Icon of 2010 as far as I'm concerned.

C'e' stato un momento in cui avrei voluto toglierli (eravamo in un centro sociale a Venezia, sul palco con la moquette, o qualcosa di molto simile, nessuno mi avrebbe detto niente) ma la mia amica mi ha fermato dicendo "Noooo non toglierli sono troppo belli!!!" (li ho tolti lo stesso dopo un po'...)
There was a moment when I wanted to take them off (we were in a occupied space in Venice, on the stage that had a carpet, no one would have said anything) but my friend stopped me saying "Nooo don't take them off they're too beautiful!!!" (I took them off in any case after a while...)

L'Original l'ho gia' usata diverse volte (come si puo' notare) e la amo.
I colori sono fantastici e il nero sembra quasi un gel ed e' perfetto come eyeliner!
I've already used the Original several times (as you can see) and I love it.
The colors are amazing and the black almost looks like a gel and is perfect to be used as eyeliner!




Non ho ancora avuto occasione di usare la Storm, ma anche in questo caso trovo i colori splendidi, e quel blu/viola scuro sberluccicante e' super-sexy!
I still didn't have the occasion to try Storm, but also in this case I think the colours are great, and that shiny dark blue/purple is super-sexy!






Anche il mio uomo mi ha fatto un bellissimo regalo, che purtroppo non ho ancora avuto modo di usare.
Also my man gave me a wonderful gift, that unfortunately I still wasn't able to try out.


E' una scatola di saponi dall'aria lussuriosa e una spugna per lo scrub della BOMB Cosmetics. Il sapone a forma di cuore puo' (deve) essere usato anche come massaggiatore!
Sono rimasta di stucco quando l'ho visto!!! Adoro questo tipo di cose, ma non credo di averglielo mai detto, quindi sono stata super felice di riverli!!!

Shopping in Tripoli!!!

Dopo sei mesi in Libia finalmente ho avuto l'occasione di andare a Tripoli!
After six months in Libya I finally had the occasion to go to Tripoli!

E' una citta' molto diversa da Misurata.
It's a very different city from Misurata.

E' piu' occidentale e si nota come sia piu' aperta mentalmente.
It's more of a western city and you can see how the mentality it's more open.

In tutto il giorno ho visto un'unica donna col burqa, pochissime donne/ragazze con il lungo cappotto nero e diverse ragazze addirittura senza velo!
During all the day I've seen only one woman wearing the burqa, few woman/girls with the long black coat and quite a lot of girls without the veil!

In realta' non ho visto molto la citta'.
Actually I haven't seen much of the city.

Ma ho visto un sacco di negozi!
But I've seen loads of shops!

Era la prima volta che provavo l'esperienza del "shop til you drop" (compra finche' non svieni).
It was the first time I experieced the "shop til you drop".

Fortunatamente mi ero portata pochi soldi perche' sarei stata capace di spendere tutto quello che ho risparmiato (e ho risparmiato un sacco di soldi, per la cronaca).
Luckily I went off with little money 'cos I'd been able to spend all I managed to save (and it's a lot of money, just so you know).

Sono rimasta sorpresa nel trovare un sacco di negozi inglesi. Marks & Spencer, Next, Bhs, La Senza. Sarei potuta morire. Un Next store in Libia!!!!!!!

L'ombretto adesivo non so di che marca sia. L'ho preso perche' costava pochissimo (4 LyD ovvero poco piu' di 2 Euro) e ne sono sempre stata molto curiosa.
I have no idea of what brand is the adhesive eyeshadow. I bought it 'cos it was so cheap (4 LyD which means a little more than 2 Euros) and I've always been intrigued by it.
